The Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas has hit a snag due to unexpectedly strong winds, with the second round at TPC Summerlin experiencing a delay announced by PGA Tour officials on Friday morning, News 3LV reported.

The golf tournament, originally set to begin at 7:00 a.m., will now start at 10:55 a.m. Staff, volunteers, athletes, and caddies must wait as strong winds disrupt the game and challenge safety protocols for the outdoor event,  as the Las Vegas Review-Journal detailed.

Stephen Cox, the chief referee of the event, emphasized the importance of this decision, sharing, "The Friday morning delay at the Shriners Children's Open is due to the extremely high winds we are experiencing in Las Vegas," noting the extended delay is under constant review to ensure everyone's safety, this according to statements obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Before the weather caused delays, golfer Taylor Pendrith was leading at 10-under 61, though he couldn't finish his 18th hole due to the suspension. The first round was also paused on Thursday because of darkness. As the tournament enters a more competitive phase, scores have stagnated, with ten other players tied for second at -7.
