A 17-year-old female has been apprehended by law enforcement in connection to the fatal shooting of a Sonic Drive-In manager in San Antonio. Adiah Namir Roberson, the teenager in question, was captured at an apartment complex in Dallas, as reported by the U.S. Marshals Service. The incident unfolded at a Sonic on Babcock Rd, costing Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury, the restaurant’s manager, his life after an altercation over counterfeit currency.
Following an ongoing investigation since the July 7 incident, Roberson was finally taken into custody. She had been evading capture and was previously listed among the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, becoming one of the state's most sought-after individuals. The effort to capture her was a collaborative effort involving the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force San Antonio, which includes multiple law enforcement agencies. According to a statement obtained by KENS5, Roberson is expected to now face murder charges.
Shrewsbury’s run-in with Roberson began when he was informed that she had previously attempted to use fake bills at the drive-thru. Determined to document the incident, he went to photograph the license plate of Roberson's vehicle. That's when Joshua Joseph, Roberson's associate and alleged getaway driver, became agitated and threatened Shrewsbury, proclaiming that he was “going to get shot,” according to details shared by KSAT. Moments later, police say Roberson emerged from the vehicle and fatally shot Shrewsbury.
Joseph has been in custody since August 16, also facing murder charges for his part in the incident. Rewards totaling up to $10,000 had been offered through Texas Crime Stoppers and Crime Stoppers of San Antonio for information leading to Roberson's arrest. As recalled in a KENS5 interview, a Sonic co-worker, identified only as Carlos, witnessed the incident, recalling Roberson's entry into the restaurant that night and the subsequent events that resulted in his friend's death.
