Get ready for some good old-fashioned, non-fiery, Halloween fun at Gatorland Orlando this weekend. The park, famously known as the "Alligator Capital of the World," is gearing up for its 'Great Pumpkin Toss', which is a fan-favorite event according to ClickOrlando. Hungry gators, crocs, and a mix of other park animals including Florida panthers, bobcats, parrots, and capybaras are prepping their jaws for some action-packed enrichment activities this Sunday.
The event will be scattered throughout the day, with the first toss set for 11 a.m. at the South Main Lake, followed by another at 1 p.m. at Jungle Crocs, and the final show at 2:30 p.m. at The Breeding Marsh Observation Tower. What's unique about this activity, beyond the spectacle of large reptiles pulverizing pumpkins, is the inclusive nature of the event, with a variety of species getting in on the festivities to chomp, claw, or peck their way through the season's gourds.
As part of the park's "Gators, Ghosts & Goblins" Halloween event, this pumpkin chunkin' good time is wrapped up in the regular park admission, so guests are getting the extra festive bang for their buck. "The Great Pumpkin Toss is not just for gators and crocs. Many other animals in the park will be joining in the fun," Positively Osceola reports, ensuring that it’s an enriching and exciting day for everyone at the park.
Beyond the smashing good time with pumpkins, the park promises a host of Halloween activities such as encounters with Florida's Bigfoot - the Skunk Ape, a petting zoo, a monster museum, and god forbid, a "Gargantuan Gourds" patch. Also on the agenda is a costume parade for kids, candy galore and enough seasonal shows to shake a broomstick at. Guests even have the chance to be in the official Gatorland Halloween video, capturing all the magic, minus the spells, on camera.
