
A tragic incident unfolded in Torrance this week as a one-month-old baby died after being bitten by a dog, local authorities report. KTLA provided the initial details, indicating that the Torrance Police Department received a distressing call concerning an animal bite at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday from the 2700 block of Martha Avenue.
First responders from the Torrance Fire Department found the injured baby upon arrival and promptly transported the child to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, it was later confirmed that the baby had succumbed to their injuries. "Torrance Police officers responded to the hospital, contacted the parents, and learned that the child had passed away,” the Police Department said, in a statement obtained by KTLA.
The investigation into the cause of death is currently underway, with the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office leading the inquiry to ascertain the specific circumstances that led to this tragic outcome. As reported by NBC Los Angeles, Torrance Animal Control has taken custody of the dog involved in the incident, although details surrounding the breed and how the baby came into contact with the animal have not been disclosed.
