
A fire that broke out at a Cary Motel 6 yesterday afternoon led to the hospitalization of two people and the evacuation of dozens of guests, as fire officials and police responded to the scene. According to CBS17, the Cary Fire Department was dispatched to the motel located on Buck Jones Road around 1 p.m. following reports of a fire in the maintenance room; the department managed to extinguish the blaze without further incident.
As a result of the incident two individuals were sent to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, and the occupancy of 35 rooms at the establishment were displaced, however, the exact number of guests affected has not been disclosed the number of guests affected is still unknown at this time, The News & Observer reports. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, aid was provided to guests in need of relocation by the local Red Cross, while the motel announced it would remain closed until further notice.
Hoses stretched across the road presented a stark reminder of the emergency that unfolded at the Motel 6. The Cary Fire Department noted the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, however, the immediate threat was abated after the initial response, according to WRAL. In the meantime, the department did confirm that two patrons were transported to the hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation, as the incident forced 35 guests to evacuate their rooms.
