Investigations are underway in Goldsboro following separate shootings that wounded two individuals Saturday evening. According to CBS17, Goldsboro Police responded to the 1100 block of Olivia Lane around 6:45 p.m. after receiving ShotSpotter alerts and calls from residents. A 53-year-old man, identified as Damon Romell Outlaw, was discovered with gunshot wounds and subsequently flown to ECU Health in Greenville, where he was listed in critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the incidents are not clear, and police are trying to determine if the two shootings are connected. A 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, was also shot and arrived at UNC Health Wayne via private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. According to a report by ABC11, the investigators have yet to establish a link between the two victims.
As the Goldsboro community grapples with the violence, authorities have made an appeal to the public for assistance. The Goldsboro Police Department's plea for information was shared in a Facebook post, urging anyone with knowledge of the crimes to contact Crime Stoppers. The organization provides anonymity for tipsters and offers cash rewards for information leading to arrests, ranging from up to $500 for misdemeanors to $1,500 for felony arrests.
Amidst the ongoing investigation, community members are encouraged to come forward with any pertinent details.
