Two LAPD officers were injured when their vehicle crashed while engaged in the pursuit of a suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in the Westlake District of Los Angeles, as reported by ABC7. The chase began around 3:30 a.m. and abruptly concluded at the intersection of 7th Street and Union Avenue after the squad car collided, under circumstances not immediately clear, with another vehicle.
Attempting to stop a gray Lexus IS 300 tied to an armed carjacking that took place Sunday, officers attempted to pull over the vehicle at 7th and Flower Streets in downtown L.A., as detailed by a department spokesperson to KTLA. Fleeing the attempted stop, the suspect led police on a chase that spanned several blocks before the crash ensued, leaving the officers with minor injuries and the suspect ultimately eluding capture.
As the investigation continues, no further details about the suspect or their whereabouts have been provided, KTLA noted.
