The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina has announced the indictment of two Sampson County men for their alleged involvement in a quintuple homicide that occurred in October of last year. Robert Andrew Daquan Williams, who goes by several aliases including "Double Tap, Drew and TTG," and Derek George, also known as "Pete," have been hit with charges related to drug distribution and robbery, among others.

Each man is facing one count of conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base (crack), conspiracy to commit a Hobbs Act Robbery, a Hobbs Act robbery count, and a count of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. In addition, Williams has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. A third individual, mentioned in the indictment, faces charges for illegal gun possession but is not charged in connection to the murders. As per a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office, the investigation has been made possible through a combination of police work and community tips.

United States Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr., highlighted the collaborative efforts of law enforcement stating on U.S. Attorney's Office, "The charges brought in this case demonstrate the partnership between local, state and federal law enforcement to investigate and prosecute individuals believed to be contributing to violence in our communities." He further emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community and seeking justice for acts of violent criminal activity.

Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in North Carolina, Robert M. DeWitt, expressed his hopes for the charges to bring peace and justice for those affected. "Five people were taken from their families by this crime which impacted the entire community. We hope these federal charges can bring some sense of peace and justice for everyone affected," DeWitt stated on U.S. Attorney's Office, reflecting on the broader impact of the incident. On the enforcement front, ATF Special Agent in Charge Bennie Mims remarked on the case's significance and the dedicated response from law enforcement agencies to address the perpetrated violence.

Williams has been in custody since November 9, 2023, while George was arrested following the indictment and remains detained. The two men could face the death penalty if convicted on these charges. This is an ongoing investigation, with the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, the Clinton Police Department, FBI, ATF, U.S. Marshal's Service, and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation all playing roles. The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) is also involved, focusing on dismantling significant criminal organizations. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tyler Lemons and Casey Peaden are prosecuting the case, and authorities encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward by contacting the Sampson County Sheriff's Office or the FBI.
