Last night in Long Beach, the city's police department reported two separate incidents of violence that left two individuals injured. In the first, officers responded to a call regarding gunfire on the 2200 block of Olive Avenue, where a male adult was found with minor upper body injuries, as the Long Beach Police Department stated.
According to the LBPD, at around 11:52 p.m. on October 14, the victim and another male got into a verbal dispute that quickly escalated. The suspect produced a firearm and during the ensuing scuffle, the gun went off, fortunately, not striking anyone before the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving behind no injuries apart from the aforementioned victim's minor ones. Long Beach Fire Department personnel attended to the victim, who did not require hospitalization.
The second incident occurred several minutes before the gunfire, at approximately 11:47 p.m. near the intersection of the 710 Freeway and Del Amo Boulevard; a male victim, when found by police, had suffered a stab wound to the lower body. The Long Beach Fire Department once more assisted, this time transporting the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
The LBPD has released little information about the stabbing suspect who, after assaulting the victim, fled in an unknown direction, leaving officials to gather details about the perpetrator and determine a motive the investigations for both the shooting and stabbing are active and ongoing.
