Wake County has appointed one of its own as the new director of the Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization Department. Morgan Mansa, previously the deputy director of programs, has taken on the role after a national search. Her tenure officially began on Tuesday, as stated by the Wake County.

"Morgan's proven track record, both within our department and from her years of service in housing leadership roles across the country, made her the standout candidate," Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Shinica Thomas said. Mansa's commitment to creating affordable housing in the community is well-known. She has been instrumental in restarting the Cornerstone Center, launching Wake County's Homeownership Major Repair program, and establishing the county's first community land trust.

Mansa brings over a decade of experience in housing policy and advocacy, with a career that spans multiple states before she settled in North Carolina. Her previous roles include director of housing and community partnerships for the Town of Cary, director of the Nashville Housing Trust Fund, and executive director of the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance. These positions have given her a strong foundation in strategic leadership and housing development, as mentioned by the Wake County.

An alumna of Calvin University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and urban studies, Mansa also earned a master's in public policy and administration from Northwestern University. Her achievements haven't gone unnoticed — she was celebrated as one of the "Top 40 Under 40" by the Triangle Business Journal and currently serves as vice president of the North Carolina Women’s Affordable Housing Network.
