A Wake County man is facing serious charges after an incident of animal cruelty. Authorities were called to Edgemont Road near Wendell, where they found a dead dog and several other animals, including a cat, in severely malnourished condition, according to CBS 17.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies were assisting Animal Control with an animal cruelty case. When they arrived, they found the animals in distress, prompting immediate action, as reported by ABC 11. Animal Control took custody of the surviving pets, and 31-year-old Floyd Tarail Meeks III, who was on the property, was arrested. He now faces charges, including a felony for killing an animal by starvation and cruelty to animals.
While the investigation is ongoing and details are limited, the charges are serious. The Sheriff's Office has not confirmed whether Meeks owned the property where the animals were found, as stated by WRAL. While more information is expected as authorities continue their investigation, no further details are currently available.
