The Wake County Animal Center is bringing back its Fall Community Pet Days, offering a series of events where pet owners can receive free and low-cost health services. From October 13 to November 24, your pups and purrs can get vaccinated, microchipped, and more at various locations across the county, according to the Wake County.

Vickie Adamson, Wake County Commissioner, is urging pet parents to take advantage of these services. "We are committed to ensuring that all pets in our community have access to essential health services," she said in a statement obtained by Wake County's official news site. The four Sunday events are set to run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., bringing vaccinations and microchipping directly to the communities.

Rabies shots for your dog will cost $5, but the DHPP vaccine, which protects against several dog diseases, is free. Cat owners shouldn’t feel left out—your feline friends can get the FVRCP combo vaccine, which protects against three illnesses, at no cost. Microchipping, which can help reunite you with your pet if they get lost, is also free. This event is only for Wake County residents, so be sure to bring proof of residency.

Dr. Jennifer Federico, director of the Wake County Animal Center, emphasized the importance of these events in maintaining pet health. "Community Pet Days play an important role in keeping pets healthy and in their homes, where they belong," she told Wake County's news outlet. This past spring, Community Pet Days served nearly 1,300 pets. This outreach is made possible by the support of local veterinarian Dr. April Ward with Heal House Call Veterinarians, the Friends of Wake County Animal Center, Dorcas Ministries, Wake County Health and Human Services, and the Wake County Regional Centers.
