With the countdown to the 2024 General Election ticking away, Wake County officials are issuing a final call for residents to register to vote by the October 11 deadline. As reported by the Wake County Board of Elections, this is the last chance for potential voters to either sign up or ensure their details are current before the elections this November.
"Take a moment this week to check your registration and make sure you’re ready for the upcoming election," called out Wake County Board of Elections Director Olivia McCall, emphasizing the importance of voter readiness. Residents have multiple options to submit their voter registration form – whether online, in person, or through mail forms are accessible and can be delivered in a variety of ways before the deadline.
Eligible voters seeking to register can find forms on the Wake County Board of Elections website, at the Board of Elections Operations Center, or at Wake County public libraries. The myNCDMV website also offers a convenient option. To be accepted, forms must be submitted to the Wake County Board of Elections by 5 p.m. on October 11. They can be delivered in person, mailed to P.O. Box 695, Raleigh, N.C. 27602, or submitted electronically.
Registration requirements state that you must be at least 18 years old by November 5, not currently serving a felony sentence, and a U.S. citizen. Registrants need an identification number, which can be either a North Carolina driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security Number. For those who do not have these forms of identification, there is an option to declare that on the registration form. Wake County manages voter registration at the county level and requires anyone moving to a new county to re-register, as stated by the Wake County.
The Wake County Board of Elections plays a vital role in facilitating democracy by overseeing elections, managing precincts, and maintaining voter registration records for more than 840,000 voters. For more details, you can follow the board on social media or contact them directly for assistance.
