The Wake Forest Police Department is getting ready for its annual National Night Out event. The event will be held on October 7, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the Joyner Park Community Center at 701 Harris Road, as stated by the Town of Wake Forest.
The event will feature a DJ, various games, free food, and special prize drawings. There will also be displays of fire, police, and EMS vehicles, along with booths promoting crime prevention and safety. This information was detailed in a press release on the Town of Wake Forest's official website. The evening will feature a police K-9 demonstration, a D.A.R.E. presentation, and officers sharing important information on vehicle security, home security, and personal safety. There will also be details about community initiatives like Neighborhood Watch and the Special Olympics.
This initiative aims to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, gather support for local anti-crime programs, and strengthen community ties. It sends a clear message to would-be criminals that residents are aware and united, as noted in the Town of Wake Forest press release. Those planning to visit Joyner Park on the day of the event should note that the northernmost section of the community center’s parking lot will be closed from 1 to 8 p.m. to accommodate setup for National Night Out, including booths, vendors, and vehicle displays. Cones and signage will be in place to inform park visitors of the temporary closure.
Additional details about National Night Out can be found on the Town of Wake Forest's dedicated webpage for the event or by contacting Officer R. Wilkinson at 919-608-8472 or [email protected].
