A recent collision on the evening of Oct. 16 claimed the life of a woman in Long Beach. The fatal incident, which involved a single vehicle, unfolded at the junction of Spring Street and Studebaker Road, drawing an immediate response from local law enforcement and emergency services.
The Long Beach Police Department, per their press release, was alerted at around 10:52 p.m. and discovered upon their arrival that a BMW 440i had collided with a utility pole. The driver, a female adult, was found within the vehicle and was the sole occupant.
The Long Beach Fire Department worked quickly to remove the woman from her vehicle. Attempts were made to save her life at the scene, however, she was pronounced deceased by the responders, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. Detectives are currently examining the role excessive speed may have played in the tragedy, as the BMW was reported to be traveling eastbound on Spring Street at a high rate before the crash.
The identity of the driver has not been released, with officials awaiting to inform the next of kin.
