The City of Wylie is taking a stand against domestic violence. Mayor Porter officially designated October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the city last Tuesday. The proclamation highlighted the societal issue and the individuals and organizations dedicated to combating it. Crime Victim Advocate Kisha Voss was recognized for her unwavering commitment to the cause, as reported by the Wylie Police Department.
The mayor's announcement comes as domestic violence continues to impact communities across the nation. Mayor Porter extended his appreciation to local agencies that have provided support and resources for victims. According to a post on the department's Facebook page, these include @hopeforagapewomen, represented by Fran Frazier and Jennifer Lajoie, W.I.N.N.E.R.S., by Tonja Alexander, and @Hope's Door New Beginning Center.
Mayor Porter's message is clear: it takes a collective effort to eradicate domestic violence. He urged all citizens in Wylie to unite in supporting those affected by this form of violence. "We echo Mayor Porter's message urging all citizens to work together to help bring an end to domestic violence and support those who have experienced the tragedy of domestic violence," the post by the Wylie Police Department conveyed the gravity of Mayor Porter's appeal for community solidarity.
