
A 17-year-old was fatally shot by police in Flint, Michigan on Saturday, officials confirmed. Michigan State Police (MSP) Third District reported troopers on patrol encountered an armed individual who fled when confronted near Essex St. and Pasadena Ave.
"The suspect, a 17-year-old...was shot and killed," MSP said in a statement. It was shortly after 6:30 p.m. when the incident occurred, and a loaded gun was discovered at the scene. The MSP's 2nd District Special Investigation Unit and MSP Crime Lab were quickly to respond and initiate an investigation, as reported by WWJ Newsradio 950.
According to department policy following such incidents, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcomes of the investigation. Such measures are standard practice to ensure a transparent and unimpeded inquiry into the events that transpired.
A social media post on X by MSP also confirmed the details, adding, "The MSP 2nd District Special Investigation Unit and MSP Crime Lab has responded to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation."
