The search for justice in a decade-old Canton murder case has intensified with the ATF's announcement of a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Dale Settle Jr. According to Cleveland19, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is seeking help from the public to resolve this lingering case.
Settle was shot during an alleged robbery attempt while he was attending a Bible study on September 22, 2011. "We need to bring closure to this family, prevent more needless violence, and ensure that those responsible are held to account," Daryl S. McCormick, Special Agent in Charge of ATF’s Columbus Field Division, conveyed in a statement obtained by Cleveland19. The case has remained unsolved for over 13 years, leaving the Settle family and the Canton community without closure.
To reinvigorate the investigation, the ATF is reaching out for any leads. The Ohio Attorney General's Office has collaborated, highlighting when two unidentified suspects confronted Settle at the 600 block of Hazlett Avenue Northwest, as referenced by FOX8. The subsequent shooting resulted in Settle's death at a local hospital.
Anyone with information regarding this cold case is encouraged to contact the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS. Information may also be submitted via email to [email protected] or through the agency's website. “ATF works together day in and day out with our local partners to solve violent crimes in our community,” McCormick stated, as per a WKYC report, “We are offering a reward at this time with the hope that someone will come forward with information that will lead us to the individual or individuals responsible for this crime.” The contribution by citizens not only facilitates the pursuit of justice but also aids in the healing of a community that has been wounded by violence.
