As the state's commitment to fostering diversity in business continues, the Maryland Governor’s Minority and Small Business Outreach Summit is set to make waves in the Baltimore business community tomorrow, Nov. 19. According to Baltimore Fishbowl, the event, previously lauded and now expanded in its popularity, has been relocated to the spacious Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor with a schedule running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to welcome an influx of over 800 minority, women, veteran-owned, and local small businesses, alongside a plethora of prime contractors.

Moving beyond just a networking opportunity, the summit presents an impressive volume of contracting possibilities valued at over $7 billion, as detailed by Maryland's Department of Transportation engineer Tony Bridges, who conveyed to WMAR-2 News, "We have over $7 billion of opportunities for businesses to take advantage of. And so this is anyone that's doing professional engineering, professional services, it bridges construction, anything you could think of. There's probably an opportunity in the state for you to take advantage of, and especially for businesses."

Registration for the day-long event costs $75. It is intended to unlock access to not only contracting opportunities but also vital workshops and insider knowledge poised to assist smaller entities in navigating the nuances of government contracting. Attendees will learn how to craft successful bids and effectively utilize designations like minority-owned and women-owned for competitive edges.

Furthermore, the summit promises to serve as a bridge for prime contractors seeking to grow their directories of qualified subcontractors, thereby adding diverse talent and resilience to their government agency dealings. The prime goal articulated for this summit, hosted by departments including the Maryland Department of General Services, Maryland Department of Transportation, and the University System of Maryland, stretches beyond contracts alone.
