The Beaverton community is dealing with the discovery of 68-year-old John Marcus McGuire, whose body was found a week after he was reported missing. Beaverton Police Chief Brad Davis confirmed the discovery yesterday, thanking the community for their assistance during the search and offering condolences to McGuire's family. "We would like to thank the community for all of the support and help during this incident," Davis said in a statement obtained by WNEM. "Our deepest sympathies are extended to Mr. McGuire’s family and loved ones during this difficult time."
The circumstances surrounding McGuire's death are still under investigation, although no signs of foul play have been immediately apparent. The body was located in the 100 block of Knox Street, which is detailed in reports from local authorities, according to ABC12.
McGuire was last seen on the morning of Wednesday last week, and concern grew when he failed to make contact for the rest of the day, described by friends and family as "deeply concerned" about his well-being, ABC12 reports.
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding McGuire's final days, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause and manner of his death. The results of the autopsy are expected to provide more details, including how long he had been deceased and the cause of his death, as per report by Mid-Michigan Now.
