Today, a sad discovery was made at Gunpowder State Park's Dundee Creek Marina as divers extricated a body from the water. An 11 News crew on the scene detailed the recovery of a submerged vehicle this morning. An ongoing investigation surrounded the event: "there was a water rescue underway at the marina involving a car in the water by the boat ramp," per a statement detailed by WBALTV.
Baltimore County police were reportedly summoned to the marina around 8:20 a.m. as the situation unraveled. However, the Maryland Natural Resources Police quickly declared that no additional information was available, possibly prematurely.
Details became clearer as the Maryland Department of Natural Resources confirmed the recovery of a body and a white SUV from the marina. According to a report by CBS News Baltimore, Maryland Park Service rangers were alerted to the submerged vehicle near the boat ramp at around 8 a.m. Subsequently, the SUV was towed from the water, and no individuals were found inside it.
Shortly after that, a body was discovered near, but not within, the marina basin. Dundee Creek Marina is closed as Maryland Natural Resources Police investigate the tragic events.
