Early Thursday morning, chaos erupted at Centennial Elementary School in Graham when a stolen car, used as a battering ram, shattered the tranquility of the predawn hours. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blog, deputies arrived at the scene after a 911 call reported two vehicles performing reckless stunts in the school's parking lot followed by a loud crash.
The incident, which took place around 4:58 am left officials piecing together witness accounts, with one stating they observed the car crash through the front doors of Centennial Elementary, and then 2 to 3 individuals fled the premises, seeking refuge in another white sedan. The abandoned vehicle, still running, was confirmed stolen from a Spanaway residence overnight.
Surveillance footage recovered from the site gave credence to the sheriff's assertion that the culprits appeared to be "young adults or teens," who did not linger to ransack the establishment but instead hastened their departure upon execution of the act. The vehicle, now extricated from the building, has been impounded.
The Sheriff’s Department urges anyone holding information about this audacious act to come forward; citizens are prompted to contact them directly or, for those preferring confidentiality, to relay details via Crime Stoppers through their app or website.
