To enhance the spectator experience, the Detroit Tigers have revealed that their Comerica Park stadium will receive an upgrade with the introduction of the new Home Plate Club. Behind home plate, this premium seating area will offer unparalleled comfort through heated and cooled seats, a first in the realm of major professional sports, as reported by The Detroit News.
On the cutting-edge of stadium technology, several sections within the Home Plate Club will be equipped with seat climate control, enabling fans to adjust their seat temperature with the touch of a button. Quick-touch heating and cooling climate technology will be employed to provide these adjustable temperatures, said the Tigers in a statement detailed by WXYZ. Fans desiring colder or warmer seats depending on the weather, with the first game of the 2025 season, will have their wishes met.
These seats were designed by Figueras, based in Barcelona, Spain, and incorporate THERMAVANCETM technology developed by Promethient in Traverse City, Michigan. The special marine-grade vinyl upholstery is intended to decrease UV absorption, ensuring that the seat surfaces stay cool on sunny days, as detailed by Ilitch News Hub.
The Home Plate Club goes beyond just seating. It offers a newly built space beneath the stands with a private entrance. It is reported to include VIP parking, all-inclusive food and beverage options, in-seat service, and more, embodied by an authentic Detroit atmosphere that Ryan Gustafson, President and CEO of Ilitch Sports & Entertainment, promised an experience that showcases "as one of the best premium clubs in the country," according to a report by Ilitch News Hub. Alongside this, Loge Boxes, which will offer semi-private luxury seating and game-viewing with a privacy wall partially enclosing the seats, will also be available.
