A violent clash over a parking space at a Morrisville Walmart escalated to a stabbing incident this past Wednesday evening, leaving a man critically injured and a woman in custody. According to CBS 17, Tikira Norman, 38, from Durham is accused of the attack, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the Walmart Supercenter's parking lot. Morrisville Police Department stamped the altercation as the result of a dispute over parking, and the surveillance footage show Norman stabbing the victim, Fouad Elsenbary, 43, of Cary, with a butcher knife.
Fouad Elsenbary was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, necessitating emergency surgery. Meanwhile, the suspect Norman is being held at the Wake County Detention Center with a bond set at $35,000, all this coming out as a macabre testament to the tensions that parking spaces in crowded lots can spark among complete strangers. "Patient is an age unknown male. Not conscious ... he is breathing. Person was stabbed." this is what first responder radio traffic caught on Broadcastify had to say, as reported by WRAL.
Norman is being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, but there has been no update on Elsenbary's condition since his transportation to the hospital. This incident has alarming echoes of road rage incidents, though here, in the seemingly benign surroundings of a commercial parking lot, the concept of civility, it seems, was momentarily forgotten. As captured by the surveillance video and outlined in court documents obtained by CBS 17, the altercation unfolded rapidly and violently, with the victim having no prior acquaintance with the attacker.
ABC 11 reminds readers that the hazard of aggressive confrontation isn't limited to the road but can indeed manifest anywhere, especially as holiday shopping season hits its stride, bringing with it the stress and frenzy of the hunt for the perfect spot to park.
