
Early this morning, a blaze in Akron resulted in a dramatic rescue as firefighters pulled an elderly woman through the window of a burning home, Cleveland19 reports. Today, the Akron Fire Department was dispatched to the 900 block of Hancock Ave. around 4:55 a.m., encountering a harrowing scene with smoke and flames pouring from the ground-floor windows.
Intense efforts led to the rescue of the woman. Neighbors had already informed the arriving teams of her presence inside the home. According to WKYC, she was swiftly extracted through a ground-floor window at the back of the house and subsequently taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The incident left six residents without a home, including three adults and three children. News 5 Cleveland notes that the Red Cross is assisting those displaced. The fire was declared extinguished by 5:08 a.m., but the cause of this early morning calamity remains under investigation.
