The City of Fort Worth's Environmental Services Department is inviting residents to a free scrap tire collection event on Saturday, November 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort Worth East Regional Library parking lot, located at 6301 Bridge St., 76112.
This initiative aims to reduce illegal dumping and mitigate the fire risks and environmental hazards associated with discarded tires. It’s also an ideal opportunity to inspect and replace any worn-out tires on your vehicle or bicycle. By recycling these tires, residents are contributing to the beauty of Fort Worth and supporting environmental sustainability, according to the City of Fort Worth.
The event will accept passenger vehicle tires, including those from cars, trucks, motorcycles, and SUVs. While some residual dirt is permissible, officials request that tires be as free as possible from oil, dirt, water, and paint. Rims are accepted, though pre-removal is preferred. Please note that commercial vehicles and 18-wheeler tires will not be accepted.
After collection, the tires will be sent to a recycling facility, where they may be repurposed into playground surfaces, tire swings, asphalt components, or landscaping materials. Some may even be processed into tire-derived fuel, exemplifying the innovation of recycling.
