In a recent and disturbing development from Horsham, Montgomery County, 24-year-old Brian Groo has been arrested and charged with multiple felony counts, including the rape of a 10-month-old boy. As reported by WPVI, after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, police traced the upload of two child sexual abuse videos to Groo's residence.
The child pornography, which Groo allegedly produced and disseminated using the social media platform Kik, was linked back to him via the username "Zenshadowsol". NBC Philadelphia reported that investigators discovered the illicit content posted to various online accounts, and after executing a search warrant at Groo’s home, a hidden cellphone tied to the concerning email address was found, which housed the Kik application. According to officials, the discovery of the videos led to fears about ongoing or further abuse of the child.
The disturbing situation was exacerbated by Groo’s history as a registered sex offender, with a prior conviction in 2021 for disseminating child pornography, according to further details provided by the Inquirer. His sentence at that time was less than two years in prison followed by five years of probation. It was during a probation visit that investigators gained the opportunity to apprehend Groo after the tip was received.
An affidavit revealed, that Groo allegedly admitted to authorities about having received a child sex abuse video from a woman he met on Kik and in a reciprocating gesture, shared a video of the infant boy he had access to. His bail has been set at $2 million and he is currently held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility with a court appearance scheduled for November 14, according to the Inquirer.
