The Irvine Fine Arts Center is gearing up to unveil two new fall exhibitions, "End as Beginning" and "For Me and You," slated to open doors on November 16. Art aficionados can witness the grand opening free of charge during a reception that promises personal interaction with the creators themselves from 2 to 4 p.m., as detailed by the City of Irvine.
At the forefront of the Main Gallery, "End as Beginning" promises to seamlessly blend sculpture and installation-centric pieces by the artistic trio Randi Hokett, Zara Kuredjian, and Patricia Liverman. Here, they dare to visually dissect themes of rupture, perception, and the inescapable march of time. According to an announcement by the City of Irvine, their work is set to pose an intricate tableau, offering "both graceful and rough" impressions that flirt with the concepts of earthly and cosmic existence.
Moving to Gallery One, "For Me and You" introduces the multidisciplinary approaches of Ann Phong and Gloria Gem Sánchez. Their work is said to evoke a spirit of kinship and legacy while casting a spotlight on our shared responsibility towards the ecosystems we both inhabit and bequeath. Phong and Sánchez operate with a puzzle of recycled materials, natural mediums, and an array of unconventional items to conjure their sculptural and two-dimensional pieces. Not only does their art reflect their diasporic journeys, but it also carries a torch for environmental sustainability and is deeply respectful of intergenerational wisdom and experiences, as per the city's press release.
