The Michigan State Police (MSP) have partnered with Kroger to distribute 200 Thanksgiving dinners across central and southeast Michigan. As reported by the Michigan State Police Newsroom, Governor Gretchen Whitmer praised the continued efforts by saying, "This Thanksgiving, I hope every Michigander gets to spend time with their loved ones, eat a great meal, and find their own way to give back."
Each meal kit includes a full Thanksgiving dinner, featuring a turkey and traditional side dishes, designed to serve 4 to 6 people. Michigan State Police (MSP) have played a key role in identifying recipients for the meals through collaboration with local schools and community organizations. Families in cities like Lansing, Jackson, Monroe, and Brighton, among others, have benefitted from the initiative. Col. James F. Grady II, director of MSP, highlighted the event as a significant part of the department's community outreach, offering thanks to Kroger for its continued partnership over the years.
Kroger's involvement in this initiative reflects the company's efforts to support food security in the communities it serves. "In our shared commitment to combat food insecurity in the communities we live and serve, the Kroger Co. of Michigan stands united with the Michigan State Police, extending a helping hand to those facing the challenge of hunger," said Cameron Barrett, Corporate Affairs Manager for The Kroger Co. of Michigan, "Together, we make a meaningful impact, turning compassion into action and transforming holiday tables into symbols of hope and abundance," in a statement obtained by the MSP Newsroom.
The initiative extends beyond Thanksgiving, highlighting the continued partnership between MSP and Kroger. Together, they have distributed more than 1,800 holiday meals. The governor noted that the effort aligns with Michigan's values of supporting those in need and promoting community solidarity. "They’ve been collaborating on this effort for years and have delivered more than 1,800 meals and counting across central and southeast Michigan," Whitmer stated, as per the MSP Newsroom.
