Montgomery County is taking a proactive approach to supporting young women in their career aspirations with a virtual career seminar specifically designed for middle school, high school, and college students. The Montgomery County Commission for Women, alongside Montgomery Women, are gearing up to hold this informative session on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6-7:30 p.m. via Zoom, according to the Montgomery County Government official website. Interested individuals are required to pre-register for the seminar and can do so by visiting the event's registration page.

This virtual event is opportune for those female students yearning to squarely confront the challenges of entering career fields that are non-traditional for women. Participants will have the chance to gain insights from professionals, ranging from the fire services and STEM fields to law enforcement and entrepreneurship. These women will share their experiences and provide advice on navigating their respective industries. MCPS students, remember to sign up with a non-MCPS email address to ensure your spot in the seminar.

In a push to further incentivize student participation, the Montgomery County Public Schools system is offering a sweet deal: students who participate in the virtual career seminar and complete a brief survey will be rewarded with Student Service-Learning Hours. A maximum of two SSL Hours can be earned, benefiting students who are accumulating hours towards their community service requirement.

Sergeant Ijeoma Enendu, the contact for additional information on this event, can be reached via email at [email protected]. Those who attend are in for an enlightening experience, one aimed to likely foster a new generation of female leaders who are eager to make a mark in their chosen career paths.
