In an effort to bridge the gap in health care disparities, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has teamed up with The National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc. (NCBW), Queen City Metropolitan Chapter, to host a live discussion aimed squarely at the Mecklenburg community. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m., a fireside chat and tele-town hall will be held to disseminate information and guide eligible individuals on North Carolina Medicaid. The partnership marks a crucial step in extending a hand to those who have historically been underserved in the healthcare system.
According to an official announcement from NCDHHS, the event's panel will include LaQuana Palmer, MPA, Deputy Director, NC Medicaid Communications and Engagement, Bella-Giavanni Austin, President, NCBW Queen City Metropolitan Chapter, and Priyanka Priydrshni, Enrollment Coordinator at Charlotte Community Health Clinic. They intend to rapidly provide Medicaid information, aiming to make a direct impact on eligible North Carolina residents by offering immediate access to resources they need and deserve.
Medicaid offers more than health insurance, providing individuals with the opportunity to access medical care, sometimes for the first time in years. It also enables others to fill prescriptions that may have been delayed due to financial constraints or lack of coverage.
