Following a distressing discovery in Fond du Lac County, nearly 50 to 70 dogs have been rescued from a residence in a state of neglect. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the Town of Calumet after receiving reports of an overwhelming odor emanating from the property, WHBL reports. Deputies, upon arriving around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, found dozens of dogs living in what has been described as 'deplorable' conditions that required a search warrant issued by a judge for fuller access.
With the residence deemed unsanitary, the Calumet Fire Department brought in hazmat equipment to assist in removing the animals, where in the residence, they found the dogs, as per a statement obtained by FDL Reporter. The dogs, which were rescued and ranged in health conditions, have been safely turned over to the Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton, where efforts to improve their well-being have commenced.
The situation has put a sudden and considerable strain on the resources of the Eastshore Humane Association. In an effort to cope with the unplanned influx of animals, they have called upon the community for donations. The specifics of what is required, including Purina Dog Chow, Purina Puppy Chow, Purina Pro Plan Puppy Food, blankets, bowls, and monetary contributions, were detailed in a release from the sheriff's office reported by FOX6 Now.
Concerned individuals seeking to offer support can tender their contributions to the Eastshore Humane Association at their physical address, 1100 Park St, Chilton WI 53014, or may consider reaching out via phone at (920) 849-2390, as suggested by WHBL.
