The quest to commemorate the lifeworks of Upper Arlington's most distinguished former residents is underway as nominations for the 2025 Wall of Honor are officially open. Jointly presented by the Upper Arlington Historical Society and the City of Upper Arlington, this program seeks to remember those who have left an indelible mark on the community's fabric through various fields, from the arts to public service.
Upper Arlington's Wall of Honor doesn't just tell stories of past influentials—it enshrines their legacies in bronze plaques along the Municipal Services Center Plaza. Last year, the program celebrated individuals like cancer activist Stefanie Spielman and Wendy's founder Dave Thomas. According to the City of Upper Arlington's official announcement, the legacy of these community pillars continues to inspire current and future generations.
This year, the nomination process encourages residents to consider the full breadth of their achievements and their lasting impact on both Upper Arlington and a broader stage. Guidelines stipulate that nominees should have at least three years since their passing to be considered for recognition.
As the nomination window draws to its close on January 10, 2025, the community is reminded of its role in preserving the memories and honoring the contributions of its notable residents. The selected honoree for 2024, set to be revealed in February, will be honored during a special ceremony on May 18, where their memory will be affixed to the enduring memorial wall. Details and the nomination form can be found on the City of Upper Arlington's website for those interested in contributing to this tradition of remembrance and celebration.
