In the spirit of giving and communal unity, the City of North Las Vegas is teaming up with Cox for the second consecutive year to dish out a helping hand before Thanksgiving, as per the recent press release. On the morning of Saturday, November 23, local families will have the opportunity to receive a complimentary turkey to grace their holiday tables.
The event, dubbed the 2nd Annual Turkey Giveaway, is set to begin at 8 a.m. at the Liberty Park located in front of the North Las Vegas City Hall, 2250 Las Vegas Blvd. N. The mayor, Pamela Goynes-Brown, alongside council members, will be present to assist and ensure the distribution goes smoothly. Notably, not just turkeys but various breads will be provided, courtesy of Bimbo Bakeries, until the supplies run out.
According to officials, the holidays can be filled with anxiety for those facing hard times, and it's through small acts of kindness that a community can strengthen its bonds. "By providing a Thanksgiving meal, the City of North Las Vegas hopes to alleviate any unnecessary worry so residents can enjoy the holidays together," as stated in the city's press release. This is more than just a meal; it's a message that in North Las Vegas, no one is left to weather the cold alone.
With 400 turkeys ready for distribution, the city expects a strong turnout reflecting the community's needs. Volunteers will be key in helping families take home not just a meal, but the comfort of knowing their city supports them. As the last fall leaves fall, this act of generosity reminds us what the season is truly about—giving, sharing, and belonging.
