The City of North Las Vegas is set to ring in the holiday cheer with its 4th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 5. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature an array of festive activities and treats from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Liberty Park, adjacent to the North Las Vegas City Hall, according to an announcement on the City of North Las Vegas website.
Families can look forward to entertainment to set the seasonal mood, including a reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s “The Night Before Christmas” by Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. In a statement obtained by the City of North Las Vegas own publication, the mayor expressed enthusiasm for the occasion: "The holiday season is a special time for us to come together as a community, to celebrate, share joy and lift each other up. Our Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony has become a wonderful tradition where families, friends and neighbors can join in the spirit of the season.” Mayor Goynes-Brown also hoped the event would bring "happiness, love and unity to every corner of North Las Vegas through the holidays and into the new year."
The seasonal celebration is geared to deliver a welcoming atmosphere, with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies served before the ceremony. The main attraction, the lighting of the City of North Las Vegas holiday tree, promises to be a memorable spectacle—one to be immortalized within the City Hall lobby throughout the holiday period. Children are also catered for with ornament-making and letter-writing stations, complete with a letter drop box to send their missives to Santa Claus.
Speaking of the jolly man in red, Santa Claus is scheduled for a 6 p.m. arrival, offering a chance for children to share their holiday wishes and capture a photo. While the evening may be chill, the community spirit, as described by the Mayor, aims to ensure warmth and joy are freely shared amongst all attendees.
