Ohio's 2024 general election official results are in, with Secretary of State Frank LaRose announcing the completion of the expedited canvass by all 88 county election boards. The boards have submitted their final vote counts to the Office of the Ohio Secretary of State before the certification deadline. "With near-historic turnout, this presidential election was the smoothest Ohio has experienced in state history," LaRose commented, crediting the success to the diligent work of the bipartisan election officials, according to the Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose's office.
The statewide results are expected to be formally certified on Monday, December 2, due to the 10th day for certification falling on a Saturday. Ohio law stipulates a 10-day period for the Secretary of State to certify election results following county canvassing efforts. LaRose has expedited this year's process, issuing Directive 2024-22 in September, which required all boards to complete their official canvass by yesterday to accommodate all post-election activities, notably the 56th Electoral College of Ohio, scheduled for December 17.
Post-election procedures are now underway, with the Secretary of State directing boards to focus on auditing tasks. A bipartisan team, including Republican and Democratic representatives, will perform audits by comparing the tabulated results against a hardcopy paper trail. Secretary LaRose mandates this process following every election to ensure the accuracy and transparency of Ohio’s elections without the delays seen in other states.
In one of the more observed contests, Ohio's Congressional District 9 has reported its results via the Lucas County Board of Elections, which holds the most populous county within the district. Thus, the outcomes of the high-profile congressional race have been certified, with further details available through the county’s Board of Elections, the Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose's website.
