A deadly altercation that took place within a Ralphs grocery store in Los Angeles' Sun Valley neighborhood has left one man dead and another wounded. KTLA reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday night when a fight involving multiple men broke out and quickly escalated into a shooting.
Details provided by NBC Los Angeles indicate that the conflict started when three men followed two others into the store at 8325 Laurel Canyon Blvd. and attacked them with what appeared to be pipe wrenches. One of the victims, in response to the assault, drew a weapon to presumably defend himself. Shots were fired, fatally striking one assailant and accidentally injuring his associate in the leg.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident, with a gunman now iny. As FOX LA noted, no employees were harmed during the shooting, which unfolded just before midnight. Officers arrived at the store located in the Canyon Plaza Shopping Center, where crime scene tape was seen cordoning off the area as detectives commenced their investigation.
