Osceola County welcomed reaffirming its commitment to public service as Commissioners Peggy Choudhry, Brandon Arrington, and Ricky Booth were sworn in during Monday's oath of office ceremony, reported the county's official news portal. Osceola County shared details of the event, which unfolded in the Commission Chambers on the fourth floor of the County Administration Building in Kissimmee.
During the ceremony, which saw County Commission Chair Cheryl Grieb as the master of ceremonies, Grieb celebrated the board's composition, stating, "Today is especially meaningful because we’re marking some important milestones in Osceola County's history” and acknowledging the sustained presence of a female majority on the commission. Choudhry, representing District 1, and Arrington and Booth, respectively serving Districts 3 and 5, each expressed their gratitude and eagerness to embark on their new terms, as shared in statements detailed by Osceola County.
Peggy Choudhry's re-election to her third term as a commissioner for District 1 was rooted in a promise to continue striving for community betterment, “To the residents of District 1, thank you for placing your trust in me again. I am deeply honored to serve you, and I promise to continue working tirelessly to improve our community for the better generations to come,” said Choudhry, per the county's press release. Her family participated in the ceremony, with Athena Choudhry and her parents, Rene and Margot Sandoval, alongside her husband, Ziaur Choudhry, supporting her.
Commissioner Brandon Arrington, referred to as the "senior" member of the board, spoke of his honor in serving the community and touted a bright future for the county, “I would have never thought in 2008 when I was 33 years old that I would be here 16 years later talking to you once again, but it has been an honor and a privilege to work in our community,” Arrington said, as detailed by Osceola County press release, during the ceremony, his oath of office was administered by his wife, State Senator Kristen Arrington, with his mother, Supervisor of Elections Mary Jane Arrington, holding the Bible.
Ricky Booth, a long-time resident with deep generational ties to the county, continued his service for District 5, “Every time that I come to this building or come here to downtown Kissimmee, I think how amazing it is, my great grandfather Henry O. Partin served on this commission in 1927,” according to Osceola County. He expressed his dedication to the voters he represents, hoping to meet their expectations. His second-term oath was officiated by Pastor James Book, with his wife, State Representative Erika Booth, holding the Bible.
Looking ahead, the new chair and vice chair for the board will be selected at the upcoming December 2 Board of County Commissioners meeting. Those interested in viewing the complete footage of the oath-taking can visit the county's website.
