A 20-year-old probation absconder and a 16-year-old boy have been taken into custody in Oshtemo Township following the discovery of two stolen firearms. The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team acted on information to locate the absconder at the Concord Place Apartments on Tuesday. Upon his discovery in a parked vehicle, law enforcement officials also retrieved two pistols, as reported by FOX 17.
The criminal past of the 20-year-old includes a prior conviction and a recent arrest in May for illegally carrying a firearm. This history prohibits him from legally possessing firearms, yet officials found him with weapons that had been reported stolen—one being equipped with an extended magazine. Following this incident, he is expected to now face multiple felony charges. The WWMT highlighted that the individual was placed under arrest without incident and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
The presence of a juvenile complicates this case. A 16-year-old boy was also in the vehicle at the time of the arrest and is now in custody at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home. He is confronting multiple charges, though specifics of his involvement are currently not disclosed to the public. Despite the arrests, the identities of both suspects are being withheld at this stage, a decision in alignment with ongoing investigations.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the matter, and authorities are calling upon the community for any additional insights. "Anyone with information about this case is asked to call KVET at (269) 337-8880," according to WWMT.
