Provalus, an IT outsourcing company, has chosen Wilkes County for its new center of excellence. The expansion will create 150 jobs and involves an investment of $1.05 million in North Wilkesboro. Governor Roy Cooper said, "North Carolina offers exceptionally talented workers in all parts of our state," according to the North Carolina Office of the Governor.

Provalus, a U.S.-based firm formed in 2017, focuses on creating technology opportunities in American communities, particularly in rural and veteran-rich areas. The company is expanding its operations by establishing a new center in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. This center will address the growing demand for cybersecurity, application development, and network operations services. Mike Keogh, the company’s president, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "Establishing our second North Carolina Center of Excellence in North Wilkesboro is a meaningful step forward in our mission to create opportunities that revitalize rural American communities," as stated by the North Carolina Office of the Governor.

Provalus plans to create jobs with competitive wages averaging $45,852, which is close to the local average income of $45,819. The project is supported by a $150,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which is tied to job creation and investment. "Technology companies thrive in North Carolina." "Our community looks forward to helping Provalus' leaders and workers establish this facility, grow their company, and build another great success story for our region." The initiative involves collaboration between the NC Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of NC, and local institutions to help launch the center, as reported by the North Carolina Office of the Governor.
