Logistics company RXO is expanding its operations in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Governor Roy Cooper announced that the expansion will create 216 jobs and involves a $13.7 million investment. This growth will contribute to the local economy by providing additional employment opportunities.

The initiative aims to enhance RXO's operations by utilizing North Carolina's strategic location and strong infrastructure. Governor Cooper said, "It’s great to see another North Carolina company decide that our state remains the perfect location to grow and thrive.” The new jobs will include positions for transportation brokers, operational and logistics specialists, and technology and data analysts. RXO CEO Drew Wilkerson stated, "North Carolina’s strategic location, robust infrastructure, and skilled talent pool make it a vital hub for the transportation industry, and we're proud to be a part of its continued growth," as stated by the North Carolina Office of the Governor.

RXO is expanding in Mecklenburg County, creating new jobs with an average salary of $89,769, which will contribute over $19 million annually to the local economy. The North Carolina Department of Commerce supported this expansion, which is backed by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) that could reimburse RXO up to $1,636,500 over 12 years based on meeting job creation and investment targets. The expansion also includes a $545,500 contribution to the state’s Industrial Development Fund to assist rural communities. These investments are expected to generate a 131 percent return on public dollars. "New jobs and new investment are on the way to Charlotte, and I couldn’t be more excited," stated N.C. Senator Rachel Hunt, according to the North Carolina Office of the Governor.

This expansion sets an important example for future economic growth in North Carolina. The cooperation between local, regional, and state organizations reflects their shared focus on job creation and investment in the community. "It’s great to see the close collaboration from many local, regional, and state organizations that have worked tirelessly to bring this economic development project to Charlotte," said N.C. Representative Wesley Harris during the announcement. This combined effort shows how the state is using its strengths to support long-term economic stability, as reported by the North Carolina Office of the Governor.
