Community engagement has once again proved instrumental in Santa Rosa's fight against crime, leading to a significant bust. According to a recent social media post by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD), tips from locals enabled detectives to zero in on a suspect known for property crimes. The individual in question: 46-year-old Shan Titman, a homeless man from the area, was connected to a host of burglaries, including one involving theft from a vehicle.

Following up on leads, SRPD’s Property Crimes Investigation Team (PCI) embarked upon surveillance activities, eventually leading them to identify two Sebastopol residences allegedly used by Titman to store stolen goods. The necessary search warrants to fully pursue these leads were obtained after a judicious review by a Sonoma County Superior Court Judge. SRPD officers arrested Titman yesterday when a traffic stop facilitated the discovery of methamphetamine and a stash of unregistered illegal firearms, including a short-barreled assault rifle, in his possession.

The investigation didn't end with Titman's capture. At one of the residences on Lupine Lane, detectives found evidence tying the scene to several additional Santa Rosa burglaries. Daniel Tucker, 46, was discovered there in possession of a short-barreled shotgun. Both men, residents of parallel pasts, now face charges that include unlawful possession of firearms and stolen property.

Tucker's charges include possession of a short-barreled shotgun (33215 PC) and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC). The charges against Titman, already under the shadow of previous cases, are more extensive. They range from multiple counts of burglary and grand theft to possession of a controlled substance and an assault weapon. A significant bail enhancement was issued against Titman, totaling $250,000, and, as of the latest updates, his bail was revoked today by the presiding judge.
