The tranquility of a children's playground in Owings Mills was disturbed this weekend when a loaded gun was found within the colorful confines of Hyper Kidz, an indoor play space popular with families. According to WMAR-2 News, the discovery was made Saturday afternoon around 3:15 pm at the facility located on Cronridge Drive. Police responded to the scene after being alerted to the weapon's presence and confirmed that the firearm was found inside the building, contrary to a Hyper Kidz employee's statement that it was located outside.
Amid the investigation, rumors swirled on social media platforms, with some individuals asserting that the gun was found in the children's ball pit. However, the Baltimore County Police were unable to verify these claims. Fortunately, the officers' swift gun retrieval occurred without any resulting injuries. Hyper Kidz, which decided to continue business as usual on Monday, has not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
In a separate account, CBS News Baltimore revealed that Bynia Reed, co-founder and CEO of Hyper Kidz, expressed the company's commitment to resolving the alarming situation. "We are parents too and this is being taken very seriously on all fronts," Reed stated in a text message to The Baltimore Banner. Reed noted that they are cooperating with the police and reviewing video footage to identify the individual responsible, whom she referred to as "the negligent parent."
