A new era for thrill-seekers is on the horizon as Six Flags Over Texas prepares to introduce a record-breaking dive roller coaster in 2026, following a substantial investment exceeding $1 billion across its North American theme parks. The company's announcement, detailed in the City of Arlington, outlines a series of enhancements designed to elevate the guest experience, including the addition of Splash Island at Hurricane Harbor Arlington, slated to be the park's most historic investment to date.

Richard Douaihy, the park’s president, emphasized the brand's commitment to innovation and excellence. "Six Flags is dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences and will be implementing a wide array of enhancements throughout the property," he said, as per the City of Arlington. To continuously reinvigorate the entertainment lineup, the parks are set to unleash innovative thrill rides, refreshed family attractions, improved dining options, and expanded events over the coming years. According to a news release by Six Flags, the goal is to make major investments through a multi-year expansion plan, which inevitably meant needing to permanently retire some of the older attractions.

Two of the theme park’s veteran coasters, La Vibora and El Diablo, have been decommissioned to make room for the future dive coaster. La Vibora, a unique steel bobsled coaster, has been a fixture since 1986, while El Diablo, described as a 'giga loop coaster', has entertained guests since 2019. With their removal, anticipation builds for the dive coaster's debut, promising to set new records and create a new benchmark for adrenaline-fueled attractions. Douaihy added, as cited by the City of Arlington, "We understand that saying goodbye to beloved rides can be difficult, and we appreciate our guests' passion. These changes are an important part of our growth and dedication to delivering exceptional new experiences."
