Wanted Vallejo Murder Suspect Arrested in Solano County After Routine Traffic Stop EscalatesSource: Google Street View

After eluding law enforcement for over three years, a suspect wanted for murder was finally apprehended last week in Solano County. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced the arrest of Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy, a 27-year-old Vallejo resident, who had been on the run since a 2021 murder in Merced, California. According to a social media post by CHP-Solano, the arrest occurred last Friday afternoon when an officer on routine patrol spotted Lacy driving without a seatbelt.

The traffic stop escalated when Lacy could not provide identification, giving the officer a false name and other erroneous information. Persistence on the part of the CHP officer led to the involvement of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, who arrived with a fingerprint reader. Their technology confirmed the individual in question as Lacy, with a $1.5 million warrant out for his arrest for his alleged role in a robbery and fatal shootout where Christina Velez, aged 33, was killed and another person was seriously injured.

The narrative of Lacy's flight began in October 2021, with the violent incident on East Main Street in Merced. Two accomplices associated with the crime, Travis Rucks and Emari Lee Prescott, were previously apprehended, Rucks, after presenting a false identity to police and Prescott following a hospital visit for injuries sustained during the incident. Lacy, the last suspect involved, had managed to avoid capture until last week.
