In a recent incident in Windsor, CA, a local man took the law into his own hands, resulting in his arrest for impersonating a police officer. As reported by the Town of Windsor Police Department via social media, 60-year-old Alejandro Garibay was apprehended after attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The event occurred last Saturday near Brooks Road South and Foothill Drive.
The situation escalated when Garibay, driving a silver Hyundai Santa Fe with unauthorized red and blue emergency flashing lights, did not don a police uniform or wear any law enforcement insignia. Upon questioning by the victim, he falsely claimed to be an undercover officer. He went so far as to accuse the victim of speeding before abruptly departing the scene. The victim, quick to act, recorded the incident and provided the evidence to local authorities, which subsequently led to Garibay's identification and arrest at his place of work.
Following his arrest, Garibay was found to have a Special Investigator shield hidden on his belt, further complicating the circumstances of his misdemeanor charge. As communicated by the Windsor Police Department, he was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, where he remains in custody on zero bail. The authorities are encouraging anyone else who Garibay might have stopped to come forward and contact the Windsor Police Department at (707) 565-2121 to assist with the ongoing investigation.
