The Wylie Police Department has unveiled a measure designed for holiday peace of mind. Starting December 1, residents will be offered a secure package delivery service to protect against theft during the festive season. This initiative, announced via social media, responds to the increasing concerns regarding package theft, colloquially dubbed 'porch piracy.'
Available exclusively to Wylie residents, the service will be active from December 1 through the 22. Citizens can redirect their online purchases to the police station, where they will be kept until collection. The Wylie Police Department's address to be used by residents is provided in the official announcement. All packages should be picked up no later than December 22. Community Relations Officer Waters at [email protected] must be informed of any packages being sent to this service to facilitate notification upon arrival.
Residents seeking to utilize this service should aim to keep their parcels below 50 lbs and must present government-issued identification upon collection, with specific guidelines for packages addressed to children. This service, which is deemed to have no associated costs, operates within the department's normal business hours, with extended hours available on Tuesdays and Thursdays given advanced notice.
The Wylie Police Department offers this program to help prevent package theft during the holidays. The department is not responsible for any damage during transit. This initiative reassures residents that their holiday deliveries are safer from porch pirates.
