On Thursday evening, a 50-car pileup occurred near the Muskegon River in Newaygo County due to icy conditions. The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the number of vehicles involved and temporarily closed Warner Avenue between 108th and 118th streets. The crash happened around 5:40 p.m., and drivers were advised to avoid the area and limit travel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to Wood-Tv.

The sheriff's office issued an alert at 5:20 p.m. about icy roads on Warner Avenue. The scene was cleared within an hour, and traffic resumed. Icy conditions also caused several slide-offs in Muskegon County on US-31 South before 6 p.m, as reported by FOX 17 News.

Newaygo County Emergency Manager Abby Watkins reported "multiple crashes" due to icy roads during the evening commute. She said, "It’s extremely icy," and "We’ve been running multiple accidents since 5:40. This one came in just after 5. It’s the evening commute. Anywhere there are hills, people are sliding everywhere." While no injuries were reported, there were minor vehicle damages. Authorities warned drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, slow down, and allow extra space for stopping as more snow and ice are expected in the coming days, as stated by FOX 17 News and WZZM13.
