Gracie Mansion, typically the site of political events, hosted an album release and holiday party organized by Mayor Eric Adams' son, Jordan Coleman. The 29-year-old rapper and filmmaker, performing under the stage name Jayoo, debuted new songs for a crowd of guests in cocktail attire, Gothamist reports.

Amid the various scandals surrounding City Hall, including the indictment of a longtime Adams aide and the historic indictment of the mayor himself, a Democratic source expressed surprise at the timing of the event. "I can't believe he'd throw a party at a time like this," the source said, according to The New York Post. Despite the political turmoil unfolding, there appears to be an effort to maintain normalcy, or a focus on events within Gracie Mansion’s walls.

The event also comes after Coleman's September stint when he hosted his '9/11 sessions' at the mayor's residence and was seen at a concert with radio host "Ogee Money." The mayor made a brief appearance at the party, noted by political reporter Katie Honan, The New York Post reported.

Amidst questions about appropriateness and optics, City Hall stated that Gracie Mansion is the mayor's house and that his son was just hosting a party there, as the kids do. Asserting financial independence in the matter, the spokesperson added, "Coleman was covering the cost of all food and alcohol served at the party as well as any staff who worked the event," an effort to preempt any further scrutiny over the utilization of the mayoral home for private celebrations, as per The New York Post.
