The Austin Police Department is actively seeking a suspect in an assault case that took place last month at Republic Square Park, where a park worker wielding a leaf blower was threatened with a knife and consequently suffered a facial injury, says CBS Austin. The attack occurred on November 6 at approximately 5:25 p.m. at 422 Guadalupe Street, following which, the offender is reported to have fled the scene, possibly boarding a CapMetro bus near Oak Springs Drive and Ridgeline.
According to the victim's account, cited by CBS Austin, the suspect is a Black man in his 50s, around 6 feet tall, was observed to have a limp and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with "Never Give Up" printed on it, along with gray pants and black shoes when he allegedly committed the assault at the downtown Austin park.
In the wake of the incident, officials have asked for the assistance of the public to aid in apprehending the assailant, offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest as part of their efforts, information on how to submit a tip can be found through the Austin Crime Stoppers website or by calling their hotline, per the details shared by KVUE.
